Doom Gloom and Dismal Dark Dispair.

Story told on 05-25-2004

By Artayna, Tarka, and N_Roocat.

Tarka:

Ted looked out over the barren wasteland of rock and dust.... his eyes
tearing up at the wonderful site... the reason for his existance and the end
of the jourey. "My god captain, its wonderful! It goes on forever and ever.
Like in the vids that we have wached all our lives.

Captain Jacks voice comes over Teds space suit com all scratchy. "Good there
Ted. Get us a few samples and start looking for landing areas. Everyone is
waking up here and they will want to get going on their new life down there."

N_Roocat:

Ted carefully checklisted his tools and gear. "Be careful" he reminded
himself. He must not let excitement diminish his attention to detail in a
place like this! So many hazards to be concerned with- but such a great
opportunity too! He began his job

Artayna:

By the time his sample containers were filled, Ted was sweating. A new
experience for one accustomed to the controlled atmosphere of space stations
and ships.

Taking one last look at the vast desolation of the new world, he reported his
task complete and started the trek back.

N_Roocat:

What Ted didnt notice was that he was being followed. From just outside his
limited field of vision, a shadow would have given him the clue if he had
seen it. Too bad he didnt, and the others were so busy with their own
affarirs that they werent watching the monitors. Too bad indeed

Tarka:

The creature watched the strange things moving around in puffy looking suits
with large blue eyes. Wide and huge for seeing at night. Only she was
disturbed this day by a loud thunder that happened form the sky. "Who be
these... they smell of water." Her ears curled in on themselves.... watching..-
. and planning.

Artayna:

Following the strange creature moving away from the rest of the pack, she
wondered at the way it kept stopping to look around as if it had never seen
The Land before. And why did it stop on occasion to poke at the ground?

N_Roocat:

Her eyes were in considerable pain from the daylight, and tho she shielded
them as well as possible, she would soon have to retreat to the cool and dark
tunnels. But wait! The strange creature was moving and poking ever closer to
one of the entrances! If it found a tunnle entrance, it could damage the door
and vent valuable water vapor. This could not be permitted!

The End
